I first became interested in ESL while an undergrad in Lexington, Kentucky. I volunteered with Cassady Elementary School’s ESL program and loved the experience of being in a multicultural classroom. After I graduated, I taught English at Atlantic Bilingual School in Puerto Cortes, Honduras where I taught fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. After my year in Honduras, I took a job at ECC, a private language school in Nakhon Sawan, Thailand. In this school, I taught many levels of English to students of all ages. Both of these experiences were extremely positive and rewarding but after two years abroad I decided to continue my education back home and return my focus to non-native speakers living in the U.S. I am thrilled to be back in Athens (where I was born) and I am currently working on my masters in linguistics which gives me a unique opportunity to integrate my studies into my teaching practice at OPIE.
