Sohaila Isaqzai

Afghani Sohaila Isaqzai was an OPIE student from January to August of 2013.  She completed a masters degree in International and Comparative Education at Florida State University in May 2015 and has now begun doctoral work in the same program.

OPIE helped Ms. Isaqzai understand the structure and requirements of higher education in the United States.  According to her, when she began her graduate program at Florida State University in Fall 2013, she “did not face many of [the] academic problems that many other international students face[d]” because “the credit system, the grading style, and the assessment policies were all familiar” to her due to her time in OPIE.  Ms. Isaqzai shares that she enjoyed OPIE very much and felt that the program was “very organized,” the “staff was very helpful,” and her teachers were thoughtful, respectful, and experts in their field.
