While attending OPIE classes in Summer Semester 2013, Raphael Soares Malta greatly valued the opportunities for OPIE students “to interact and get to know more about each other.” For example, he was able to go on short trips to nearby cities, enjoy picnics at a state park, and attend sports events such as baseball games and bowling. These were activities that OPIE sponsored and/or encouraged. Mr. Soares Malta shares that OPIE helped him greatly because he was able to meet people from many different countries and learn about their cultures while improving his English skills.
Mr. Soares Malta will graduate in 2016 with a degree in mechanical engineering from his university in Brazil. He is currently an intern at Tenova, a multinational company in his hometown.
