Abdullah Alodail studied in OPIE from 2006-2007. He received a master’s degree in Special Education from Ohio University and he is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Instructional Technology at Ohio University.
Abdullah’s best memories of Athens include his children playing in the snow. He also said that he his children had a great experience at East Elementary school, and that he made great friends in Athens.
When Abdullah was in OPIE, he had a good conversation partner. Abdullah said, “We had a three year relationship. I met him once of twice a week, and he helped me with my English.”
Abdullah’s advice to current OPIE students is, “Focus on English. Make some English friends and use the vocabulary. Don’t just meet Saudi students all the time. Be a little formal with them.” Abdullah also recommends that students use the OPIE writing lab.
