I have been an instructor in OPIE since 2006, Reading Lab Coordinator since 2010, and Reading Skills Area Coordinator as of Fall 2016. I have also taught:

  • EFL (Guest Lecturer) at Jiaotong University in Xi’an, China (Summer Program, 2016 and 2017)
  • EFL (Instructor) at ACC Cultural Institute in Aichi Prefecture, Japan (2003~2006)
  • ESL (Linguistics Teaching Associateship) at East Elementary School in Athens, Ohio (2002~2003)
  • EFL (Instructor) at Guan Ya English Academy in Shenyang, China (Summer Program, 2002)

I graduated from Ohio University in 2003 with an M.A. in Applied Linguistics after presenting my pro-seminar thesis, “The Effects of Background Music on Reading Comprehension.”  Previously, I completed a B.A. in Arts & Sciences with a major in Linguistics and teaching certification in TEFL/TESL.  I’m a member of Ohio TESOL.  My professional interests include reading comprehension, understanding the reading brain in the digital age (paper vs. screens), and applied English grammar.
